The Cuban National Institute of Meteorology (INSMET) attached to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment is a public entity in charge of monitoring and forecasting meteorological variables related to climate and atmospheric pollution. It constantly monitors weather to issue timely Early Warnings to the Government, the Civil Defence, and the people on any hazardous weather system that could affect any part of the Country. As Government advisor, it participates in awareness, educational and research activities.
