    Agroscope is the Swiss federal centre of excellence for agricultural research. It is affiliated with the Federal Office of Agriculture and has a mission for research along the entire agri-food value chain, aiming at a competitive and multifunctional agricultural sector, high-quality food for a healthy diet, and an intact environment. Agroscope’s tasks comprise research and development in the fields of agriculture, nutrition and the environment, science-based guidance and decision support in legislation, legal tasks in support of agriculture and the general public, and knowledge exchange and transfer with stakeholders of the agri-food sector and the public, including extension, private sector (SMEs, industry) and science (research institutes, applied universities and academia). Agroscope is affiliated with the Federal Office for Agriculture. The strategic orientation of Agroscope is determined by the Agroscope Council. Key tasks of Agroscope: i) Research and development for the agri-food sector; ii) Policy advice for government agencies; iii) Enforcement tasks in accordance with statutory provisions. These three primary functions enable numerous synergies, and position Agroscope as a bridge-builder between basic and applied research. Agroscope is a multi-site institution, being able to develop practical problem solutions under farm-like agroecological conditions.
